ETH Zurich is to build a new laboratory building on the Hönggerberg campus with a specific focus on quantum research. The aim here is for the university to further expand its leading position in the field of quantum technologies. The new laboratory has been made possible by a donation.

Stein am Rhein SH – The Phoenix Mecano Group is becoming the first Swiss company to be listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. Its separate business area for electrically adjustable furniture under the name DewertOkin Technology Group will be spun off on 1 January 2021. It will later launch on the world’s newest tech market.

Zurich – Researchers have for the first time manufactured micromachines by interlocking multiple materials with certain advantages. Their goal is to create microrobots that can maneuver through blood vessels like ferries. Future applications include distributing active substances or performing surgical procedures.

Dragonfish Analytics, a start-up from from Schaffhausen in the Greater Zurich Area, brings light into the clinical effectiveness of medical products. Big-data analyses and artificial intelligence are key methods in this process.

Grenchen SO – This year’s InnoPrix, a prize handed out by Baloise Bank SoBa, has been awarded to smartflyer AG. The company is developing a four-seater airplane with hybrid drive system. This should be quieter and more efficient than comparable aircraft.    

Bosch is turning to the competencies on offer in Greater Zurich. At the Bosch IoT Lab, graduates from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and the University of St.Gallen are working to develop solutions for the Internet of Things. The German automotive supplier launched this collaborative project as part of a realignment of its digitization strategy.

Zurich - The start-up lino Biotech is advancing drug development technology that was originally produced by Roche Diagnostics and ETH Zurich. To this end, the start-up has now successfully raised fresh capital in the millions.

Zurich – The start-up dacadoo has developed a digital health platform that aims to motivate people to lead more healthy lifestyles. Generali Hellas has recently also starting using this platform. The Greek insurance firm offers access to the product in the form of its own app.
